Over the last three years, ArchiveNode.io has made its archive node services for the Ethereum mainnet free. Yet, it announced not so long ago that it would discontinue services of this kind. On April 3, the platform made its decision public and explained that it had accomplished its primary goals.
From the beginning of ArchiveNode.io’s operations, many people in the cryptocurrency business, including developers, students, and researchers, have used the platform. People have been able to examine and better understand the Ethereum blockchain with the platform’s help, which has garnered accolades for its efforts to make free access to Ethereum mainnet archive node services available to the general public.
Despite its widespread adoption and success, the developers of ArchiveNode.io recognized the significant contributions made to the cryptocurrency industry by the Ethereum Archive Node. As a result, they concluded that it was best to “sunset” the platform and move on to other endeavors.
The platform’s creators believe ArchiveNode.io has permanently transformed the RPC provider market for archive data access. With the launch of ArchiveNode.io, there was a need for more archive nodes to be made accessible. Because of this, the only viable option for accessing archived data was to pay Ethereum infrastructure provider Infura an exorbitant monthly fee of $250.
Providing access to archive data for researchers, developers, and students who desired to create cutting-edge blockchain applications but lacked the time or resources to manage their archive nodes was stated to be the primary objective of ArchiveNode.io. This objective was allegedly stated to be the primary objective of ArchiveNode.io.
The principal creator of the project, who goes by the alias “DeFi Man,” said in a blog post that the intention of the venture was never to generate income. The creators of ArchiveNode.io were motivated to create a platform that would promote the Bitcoin industry by making blockchain data accessible to everyone.
